Civil Air Patrol (national website) is the official auxiliary to the United States Air Force. It was founded in December, 1941, just days before the attack on Pearl Harbor, and became instrumental in safeguarding the American coastline from German U-boat predations. Today, Civil Air Patrol is one of the nation's premier volunteer organizations, claiming more than 60,000 members across the country and overseas. Not only does CAP carry out its three traditional missions of aerospace education, emergency services, and cadet programs, but also operates under a new mandate of homeland security. About DCCS

Douglas County Cadet Squadron was established in 199x in Omaha, Nebraska. The squadron commander is Captain Burgess. The squadron is very active in the community. Perhaps the squadron can help you with a project in the community. E-mail Captain Burgess to see if we can be of assistance.

As a cadet squadron, most of our activities are based on the mission of cadet programs. Since the program's inception in 1942, thousands and thousands of cadets have passed through its ranks. Because we are a cadet squadron, many of our activities are run in part or in whole by the cadets. (For example, this page.) Under 18 years of age? Then you're eligible to join CAP as a cadet! Check out our recruiting page. Or are you an adult? See what the senior program has to offer. CAP has something for everyone, from orientation flights to drill and ceremonies, from aerospace to zulu time and back again. Still curious? Take a look in the news section to see some of the things we've been up to lately. Semper vigilans!
