As Nebraska’s Interim Wing Commander, Lt Col Cassell serves as the chief executive officer for more than 400 members across 15 Units within the Nebraska Wing. Lt Col Cassell previously served as the Squadron Vice Commander for the Fremont Cadet Squadron. |

Lt Col Cassell received the Level V Gill Robb Wilson award in October of 2018, and holds a "Master" rating in Aerospace, and Administration. |

Lt Col Cassell graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science from Wayne State University in 1978 and University of Nebraska, Lincoln in 1986. He served as a professional educator in Nebraska for more than 30 years teaching art and special education. He currently serves as treasurer for the Everett Township Board, Dodge County Nebraska. |

Lt Col Cassell and his wife Peggy have four children, Franceska, Kristina, Andrew and Jacob. His youngest son resides in the Dodge, Nebraska area, and his other three children live in Lincoln, Nebraska. |
